New York City has just observed the fifth anniversary of Superstorm Sandy and the country continues to endure more extreme weather events such as Hurricanes Irma, Harvey, and Maria. It is critical that we understand the root causes of climate change, how it affects our residents and infrastructure, and take bold steps to limit and counteract global warming. In this context, NYC Public Advocate Letitia James thought it necessary to hold a public hearing on November 30th to explore what New York City can do to implement and encourage forward-thinking policies that address climate change within and beyond our city’s borders.
